'SCIENCE' fights against 'RELIGION'?
Tweet this! There is usually a certain point when 'rational' discussions turn to get emotional. The pot gets boiling, we enjoy the fume ... It gets down to the nitty gritty, to the place where 'faith' is, to the place where decisions are made. It's sometimes quite difficult to distinguish between what's rational thinking and what's faith or belief.
So called 'scientific' thinking may be just another form of legitimation of faith-like rationalisms or some ideology. Usually there are spoken words of might and power which do the qualifying, which do say what is what. Maybe implications of a giants shoulder.
However the situation remains unclear. Religionists are supposed to have faith, are supposed to be believers. On the other hand Scientists are supposed to have knowledge and to work and think rational. In the current Evolution-Creation-Intelligent Design Debate, all these things get mixed together.
One thing is definitely not possible: To seperate religion (or religious-like thinking and believe-acting) from science especially when it comes to natural philosophy. With a combination in application of diverse sciences, like science science, psychology, sociology, theology and others it might be possible to clear the minds for all participants in a form to which all can agree.
Of course including my mind too, because neither I'm all of the time in the 'bliss' or 'in the spirit' nore in some kind of 'samadhi' or have gotten a so very special super smartness.
However when it comes to 'religious business' it might not only take 'mind cleaning' but also 'heart cleaning' and to question our beloved values.

hmmm... science and religion..I always wonder about one thing: how could someone ever separate religion from anything in our life? Suppose I am not a believer, I am still someone who is not sure to live until tomorrow, or even until next next hour and not knowing exactly what is awaiting me afterwards.. people are sometimes so strange. Some people are even preparing for what they will be doing next year, or even after a couple of years, so how come they are not preparing themselves for what might happen at this very moment? We humans are sometimes so blind. Thanks for making me reflect :)
