human rights motivation activism

The social awareness campaign of BlogCatalog and Amnesty-International
'Bloggers Unite for Human Rights'
challenges bloggers to expose injustice and abuse
and mobilize their readers to take simple online actions.

Bloggers Unite

"All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood." (Article 1 UDHR = United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights).

If you want to take some immediate action you can do this here:

Against illegal detentions at Guantanamo Bay (sign the pledge):

Against human rights abuses in Darfur.

If you 'allow' (= not protest against) abuses, you and your children have a good chance of getting abused too. There is a direct relationship between human rights and abuse.

So one thing we can do, is sign up to existing petitions, and we can even:

What could be some possible Ingredients for a personal motivation to find interest in human rights ? (you are welcome to name more points in the comment section).

Our knowledge holds us responsible. Can you live with that? If you allow forces to violate the rights of others (you know about it and don't do anything about it), the same forces might violate your rights too some day.

And one way to avoid this is to be awake, aware and conscious of the ongoings in the world and in your country, in your community and your family and personal relations.

What concerns others might also concern you.

Religion as the source of all evil? Religion is all crap? Responsible for all wars? Responsible for abuse?

Religions are getting the blame for all kinds of conflicts, wars etc. This meaning, if people follow Allah, JHWH, etc. this would automatically lead to war. Religion as the root of all evil?

Questions of leadership and organization.

Someone said: "Morality without power is ridiculous."

In frozen bureaucratic organizations, what kind of roles do the leaders play?

Being the beloved of the Super-Top-Leader, or a representator, or the lowest common denominator, being voted from some sub-organizations, or just a bureaucrat, a superstar of red tape?

How come, that most movements loose their incentives and the power of their mission?

How can one be sure, to not fall into an icy sleep?

Maybe trying to stay awake, being focussed, being aware, what touches my heart and why?
Why do I make the decisions that I do?

In the reality of our every day lifes, matters of the mind, matters of the heart, the things that we focus on, with the eyes of mind and heart, concentrate, that we look forward to, that we covet and hope.

Living according to a principle of gaining ultimate lust , covetousness, nothing would be wrong if we chase towards this goal?

Moral idealism might be a mere rhetoric, with which people (and me included) help to convince themselves, that they are in in fact very different, as it is feared because of their deeds. The claim by moralising hubris easily leads to morality to dispense, to just give up.

However there are sure chances, that we can change ourselves.

Usually I get to the point, to just see what I can do myself, how I can change myself. Am I willing to listen to others, and even: am I willing to follow religious or ethical principles like the one:

to not do unto others, what I don't want to be done to myself, my family, my community, my country, my world, the world.
AND
to not allow (try to) that something is done unto others, that I dont want to be done to ...

Across the Universe, What will change my mind?
